Here are the top stories today in Oceanside-Camp Pendleton:
- Oceanside approved big changes to Coast Highway at last week’s council meeting. Locals endure heavy traffic when commuters use Coast Highway to get through Oceanside when I-5 is backed-up. The new plans address the problem by adding roundabouts, bike lanes and pedestrian crossings while reducing the number of lanes from four to two along a stretch of Coast Highway through downtown between SR-76 and Wisconsin Avenue. Future plans also include “raised center medians, additional landscaping, improved lighting and other features along the corridor.” (Streetsblog California)
- Looking for a fun and healthy getaway for you and your girl gals? The Brick Hotel in Downtown Oceanside has one or two-day weekend wellness retreats available from Sunday, Feb. 19 to Tuesday, Feb. 21. The “Grow And Glow Wellness Retreat” will happen at the Cococabana Rooftop bar with lots of open-air space and fabulous views of the ocean. The two-day retreat includes overnight accommodation at The Brick Hotel with daily workshops, activities and a retreat gift bag. (There San Diego)
- Oceanside approves locally owned Herb Girl, Inc. to operate a cannabis distribution operation within the Gateway Business Park. Herb Girl will be joining Left Coast, another cannabis facility that has been located in the same business park since 2020. Native Oceansider Linzie Campbell, said “she had a dream to make a women-owned cannabis facility become a reality and the business intends to donate 1% of its earnings to local charities starting with the Women’s Resource Center.” (Coast News)
